Gold Coast Whale Adventures – All you need to know

explore
educate.

Our Gold Coast Whale Adventures are truly unique. We utilise a small vessel in small groups of only 8 guests, providing an unparalleled and personal whale watching experience. We closely work with researchers such as Humpback and High-rises or Dolphin Research Australia and encourage all our guests to become inspired by what we do.

The ocean needs us and YOU! Every voice, every signature, every like, share, donation or active contribution will progress conservation efforts. Our whale watching tours also enable researchers and students to gain valuable ocean time. We always reserve at least 1 spot out of our 8 total spots on every tour for volunteers or citizen scientists.

Why a small vessel?

You can literally touch the ocean and feel the spray of whale blows in your face! That is how close you are to the water surface on Blue Manta. When we say to get at eye level with our humpback whales, we really mean it. Furthermore, in times of COVID19, small group experiences are the preferred way to explore nature. Our whale cruise creates a private tour feel and and you will be able to talk to our experienced staff and get all your whale questions answered.

Our Vessel Blue Manta

Blue Manta is a 6m semi-inflatable, rigid hull adventure boat as used by government authorities such as marine rescue or water police. It was originally purpose built for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Cairns before relocating to the Gold Coast. The vessel has a full roof cover for sun protection and bench seating for all 8 passenger. Whilst the vessel is small, all guests are travelling safely and with a basic level of comfort. Blue Manta is powered by a Yamaha engine and reaches speeds up to 30 knots depending on sea conditions.

For your convenience, we provide courtesy spray jackets and inflatable life vests to keep you safe and dry.

Whale Watching Tour Departures

All our trips depart from Runaway Bay Marina. Your online booking confirmation will include all the details and directions that you need in order to find us. We always meet you right next to the boat ramp which is located next to the Marina Office. There is free parking and toilets for your use prior to departure.
